The Blackfriar
What Visitors Say
Here 2/12/26 for dinner and it was wonderful. The place is so pretty and don’t be confused this place serves great food and drinks in a historical building. We had bangers and mash, large fish n chips and steak and ale pie. We enjoyed them all and the service was professional and interactive. They have a large cocktail menu and some good beers too! Great porn star martini and wonderful Nicholson gin and tonics. This is a must stop
The decor is absolutely gorgeous, but the FOOD. Oh my goodness. We had the chicken and leek pie, steak & ale pie, and the fish and chips, and every single dish was spot on perfection. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, the mash buttery and delicious, the pies fantastic — the quality of the meat in and the pastries on each was unmatched! 10/10 would absolutely recommend, this place is incredible.
Good food ,good service, great vibes. Decor is excellent.Got there after 9pm only a five minute wait. Place was packed. Ordered the Nicholson burger and Camden pale ale. One of the best burgers I have ever had . Juicy thick patties with bacon pickle onions lots of flavor with good portion of fries, went nice with my pale ale. This place has been around for a long time and will be for many more. Cheers ! Thanks Madhu
Stopped in on a midweek evening and honestly wasn't expecting it to be so packed. The interior is absolutely extraordinary, like someone built a cathedral for drinking. Carvings, mosaics, reliefs of jolly friars going about their business. The vaulted ceilings and marble work are genuinely stunning. Service was quick despite how busy it was. One ale, one Guinness @ £15, Typical central London price. The atmosphere struck that perfect balance of lively without being overwhelming, the kind of buzz you want in a proper London pub. Worth noting: if you're planning an after-work visit, get there early or be prepared to circle for a table...
I was watching an Instagram video and immediately wanted to check this place out. It didn't disappoint. It was exactly what I expected from a typical London pub: great atmosphere, a wide selection of beers and drinks, and delicious food. Take my advice and order the oven-baked Camembert. It's delicious!
