The Viaduct Tavern, EC1
What Visitors Say
We went for a pint after watching Lady Mayor Parade. They are dog friendly, treated our dogs with a bowl of water which was a lovely gesture. And we had the best mulled wine in London. Sweet, flavoured, warm. Perfection.
Amazing, Historical Place. Perfect visit on Halloween - Good range of drinks (including 'gin-fusions'?) memorabilia, cellar tour & location. Seconds from the station, and next to an old Church as well as the old site of Newgate Prison. Amazing 👏🏻
Love the decor. Supposedly very much as it was vs its opening in the 1800s. Decent beer selection and I like the approach of having toasties and pork pies for food. £8 a pint though, presumably because of location. We booked a table/area, which I'd recommend.
A gem of a pub really old and quirky, the lovely landlord showed us the basement prison cells which was absolutely amazing and very kind of him to do when the pub was so busy. And did I mention the baby guinness shots are amazing on a cold day a must try.
Historic pub sat atop the remains of the holding cells for the old Newgate prison. Don't worry, the landlord is friendly, knowledgeable about the history of the pub and serves good beers, well worth a visit if your in the area.
