What Visitors Say
I came tonight as a first time guest to Karl Singporewala's exhibition. The exhibition was fabulous, well presented, great interpretation, friendly staff. Really enjoyed my time here. Thanks for making it a special evening.
This gallery hosts small exhibitions of African & Asian art & artefacts. I gather that it is ever changing & although the exhibition space is fairly small I found that what was on display was very worthwhile , interesting & beautiful. I would certainly drop in anytime that I was in the area. I was stunned by the Iranian jug with it's cockerel head stopper which could have been created recently but was dated to the 12th c - 13th c. Go up a staircase to visit a small , rooftop Japanese garden. Entry is free.
Awesome place and awesome exhibitions. I went there last summer to see the exhibition about the Sikh Empire in today's Indian and Pakistani Punjab under Ranjit Singh in the 19th century. And it was the best. The decriptions, the pictures, the items - just everything was perfect. I enjoyed it much to explore the fascinating history of the Sikhs in this little museum/gallery. I would recommend it to everyone interested in Asian and African culture.
A nice free museum that's part of the SOAS University of London. There's an ever changing program of exhibits and on the day I visited it was Film Poster Art in Africa. Nice to see some rather amusing interpretations of the films the posters were meant to advertise. Especially for films I've seen before. Really interesting the artists try to make their art stand out from the crowd with extra colourful arrangement, not to mention gore.
A small gallery over two floors (ground and basement) with a Japanese garden in the roof. We went to see the Japanese borro exhibition as we've recently learn how to do this and we weren't disappointed and came away with lots of ideas
