Things to Know Before You Go

Updated: Tue 14 Jul, 06:00 London time

Is there a Saturday matinee for Titanique next weekend?

Yes — Sat 25 Jul 15:00 (tickets available).

What time does the Titanique Sunday show start next weekend?

Sun 26 Jul 14:30

What's the cheapest Titanique performance next weekend?

From £25 (Sun).

How camp is it really — and who's the right audience?

Properly camp, and at full volume from the first number. The premise — Céline Dion crashes a Titanic museum tour and retells the film through her own back catalogue — only works if everyone in the room is in on the joke, and the Criterion's audience self-selects accordingly. If you came for a story-driven musical you'll feel ambushed; if you came for an off-Broadway transfer about Céline Dion telling iceberg jokes, you'll be at home.

Don't really know the Dion catalogue — does the comedy still land?

Most of it does. The plot is Cameron's film almost beat-for-beat (with detours), and the running 'Céline as narrator' joke works on her persona more than on the songs. The numbers themselves give you a free education — 'My Heart Will Go On' is properly milked, 'It's All Coming Back to Me Now' is the show's secret weapon — but the jukebox is Dion-specific in a way that rewards even a casual familiarity. Streaming a greatest-hits on the way in is enough.

The Criterion underground auditorium — what to know about the venue itself?

The Criterion is the only proper West End theatre that sits entirely below street level — you descend from Piccadilly Circus past mosaic Victorian tiling into a small, intimate house. Every seat is close to the stage. The downside: bars are tight and pre-show drinks queue painfully at five-to-curtain; the upside: nowhere in this 588-seat room is a bad seat for a show this performance-driven.

Is Titanique suitable for children?

Titanique is aimed squarely at adults and older teenagers. The official guidance recommends it for around ages 14 and over, and children under 12 are not admitted. The show contains strong language, sexual references and adult humour that are not appropriate for younger audiences.

Do I need to know the Titanic film to enjoy Titanique?

Knowing the film certainly adds an extra layer of fun, as many of the jokes and references play off iconic moments from James Cameron’s movie. However, the show is self-contained enough that you can still enjoy the music, performances and comedy even if you have never seen the film.

How long does Titanique run?

The running time is approximately 1 hour 55 minutes, including an interval. It is a compact, fast-paced evening that fits comfortably around dinner or post-show drinks.

What style of humour does Titanique use?

Titanique leans into camp, tongue-in-cheek humour with plenty of wordplay, visual gags and 90s pop culture references. The tone is affectionate rather than cruel, but the jokes are decidedly grown-up, with some strong language and sexual innuendo.

Is Titanique a jukebox musical?

In many ways, yes. The score is built around songs made famous by Céline Dion and other pop hits from the era, reworked to support the story. The result feels part parody, part tribute and part full-throttle concert.

Is there a dress code for Titanique?

There is no strict dress code. Many people choose smart-casual outfits, and some lean into the fun with a touch of 90s glamour. As long as you feel comfortable for the duration of the show, you will fit in perfectly.

About this show

Step back aboard the Ship of Dreams for a night of pure camp chaos as Titanique retells the story of Jack and Rose through the power of Céline Dion. In this intimate, tongue-in-cheek musical, a larger-than-life Céline hijacks a Titanic museum tour and spins Titanic’s iconic moments into 90s nostalgia. Expect powerhouse vocals, glittering costumes and a sharp, very modern sense of humour that gently sends up the original film while still embracing the romance at its core. If you know the movie, the songs or simply enjoy smart, silly comedy, Titanique is an irreverent West End night out for grown-ups.
